The Video System

Accessories

  • 7" FIRE TABLET: I have used different types of touchscreen monitors.  The 7" Fire Tablet is affordable and not only plays my videos, it can control my LED lights.  The Fire Tablet is powered by a USB-C.  While it isn't necessary, I replaced the one that comes with the Fire Tablet with a 90 degree flat USB-C cable.  This new cable helps me hide the cord from view.
  • TABLET MOUNT: I have also used different articulating arms.  You can search on Amazon for "Webcam Stand" or "Tablet Mount."  These will give you good options.
  • POWER BANK: The Power Bank is one of my favorite features on the custom base.  It powers my tablet as well as my LED lights.  You can use the link here, but if you do some searching, you can find special discounts by some distributors on occasion.  Since I place my power bank underneath the custom base, I used rubber grommets for the power cords.  Here's the link: Rubber Grommets.

Files

These are files for the video system as featured in the book.  I've only included Shipwreck here as a sample of the file card videos on my custom base video system.  Since some of the images I used are from 3DJoes.com to create these videos, I will not be selling or distributing their work.  Instead, I am simply sharing my sources if you decide to create your own videos for personal use.

PROGRAMS AND PROCESS USED TO CREATE VIDEOS

Programs
  • Speechelo.com for AI voiceovers.
  • Photoshop for editing graphics.
  • Keynote for creating animations of images.
  • iMovie for editing the final videos with sound.
Video File Card Process
  • If you have video editing capabilities, then you can record your action figures on a rotating display stand.  Here is a link to an affordable one: Rotating Display Stand.  ToyHax also has some great stage backdrops you can use.  Here's the link: Backdrops.  You can also video screen record images from 3DJoes.
  • You can find GI Joe file cards online or take pictures of your own.  Use Photoshop to "cut them out" and save them as PNG files.
  • I used Keynote to create the animations of the intro.  This is already done for you.  You'll just need to change the name for each action figure.  Once you've made the edit, export the file as "Movie."
  • I used Speechelo for creating the AI voiceovers.  I included files for computer sound effects above.
  • Import all of your files into a video editing software.  I used iMovie.
  • Edit your movie and export the file!
Videos with Overlays Process
  • I captured the Flagg commercial and other GI Joe related videos from YouTube.
  • I created the overlays in Photoshop.  You can use the overlays in Keynote too as I did for the "Cleared For Take Off" intro.
  • Most videos can be video captures with an overlay. However, you can also use overlays with animations created in Keynote such "Cleared for Take Off."
  • Import videos and overlays into video editing software.  I used iMovie.
  • Edit your movie and export the file!
Life Mission Statement: I desire to share my faith with others, connect them to the church, teach/preach sound doctrine, serve the needs of others, and glorify God in my home, church and daily living.
