ABOUT G.I. JOE
G.I. Joe was released by Konami in 1992 as a fast-paced arcade shooter based on Hasbro's famous G.I. Joe franchise. The game allowed players to take control of Duke, Scarlett, Roadblock, or Snake Eyes as they battled waves of Cobra troops, vehicles, and familiar villains across a series of action-packed missions.
The arcade game used a distinctive behind-the-character perspective, with the Joes visible in the foreground as players moved their targeting crosshairs around the screen. The large multiplayer cabinet supported up to four players simultaneously, giving each player a dedicated position and character.
ARCADE TRIVIA: The game is packed with characters and vehicles recognizable to G.I. Joe fans. Players face Cobra Commander, Destro, Baroness, Major Bludd, Metal-Head, and Tomax & Xamot, along with Cobra vehicles and weapons inspired by the toy line and animated universe. The final battle even takes the Joes into a confrontation with Cobra Commander himself, making the cabinet essentially a playable piece of early-'90s G.I. Joe history.
