Hobbies

I believe everyone should have several hobbies.  In fact, I suggest at least one hobby in four different categories (i.e. collecting, the arts, recreation & leisure, and creating & restoration).  Each of these categories has their own unique benefits and purposes.  I believe one of the reasons we find joy in these activities is because it is one of the ways that God has placed His image upon us.  Eric Liddell (Chariots of Fire) once said, "God made me fast.  And when I run, I feel His pleasure."

Toy Collector
(Collecting)

I have been a collector of toys since my teenage years.  Much of my collection is centered around first editions with their original packaging.  A unique feature of my collection is that I own the original versions of all the toys featured in the Toy Story movie franchise.  For example, I own the original 1952 Mr. Potato Head and the original 1952 Slinky Dog both in their original boxes.  Some toys are over 100 years old.  My favorite toys are my collection of 1930s Buck Rogers items that include Buck's ray gun, space visor, and holster.  My Buck Rogers collection was appraised by the Antique Road Show and considered to be museum quality and would bring a premium at auction.

Artist
(The Arts)

I am also an artist.  While my artwork ranges from still life, portraits, to buildings, my favorite subject matter is buildings due to my love of architecture.  My preferred medium is graphite.  I have been commissioned by several Kentucky churches to provide artistic renderings of their church facilities.  Among my favorites are my home church of Beaver Dam Baptist Church that celebrated their bicentennial in 1998 and featured three different buildings of their church's history.  Another of my favorites is a graphite rendering of Immanuel Baptist Church of Lexington, Kentucky who celebrated their 85th anniversary in 1994.

Disc Golf
(Recreation & Leisure)

RC Cola Machine Restoration
(Creating & Restoration)

Disc Golf is among many of my favorite recreation and leisure activities.  I enjoy any recreation and leisure activity that can be used to build relationships.  I enjoy trivia games around the living room to disc golf at the park.

The Royal Crown Bottling Company had a factory in my hometown of Beaver Dam, Kentucky.  When I found this vintage RC Cola Machine, I decided to take on the challenge of restoration.
Life Mission Statement: I desire to share my faith with others, connect them to the church, teach/preach sound doctrine, serve the needs of others, and glorify God in my home, church and daily living.
